to the beach
At the moment Cairns itself has no beach. It was washed away by accidental construction plans.
Thats why there are just a few excavators on the usual beach at the moment, which are supposed to
build a new beach on day.
So you have to use the northern and souther beaches at the moment. Unfortunately, if you don't have
an own car, these are just attainable by bus. So we went off to Yorkeys Knob Beach today. On the way
we could already see some nice rainclouds and then it started to drizzle pretty quickly as well.
So we had a nice visit ti the beach without the sun. Up here they obviously don't have sommer as
well, although the rainy season hasn't yet started. We spent the time we had until the next bus
went back to Cairns with a little walk on the beach and used the bbq shelters when it started raining.
Back in Cairns we shopping and went back to the hostel. In the evening we naturally used our free
meal at the whool shed, this time without an upgrade, which was alright as well. This time we did not
spend much more time at the whool shed and started for a walk through the city afterwards. We noticed
that Cairns is pretty much orientated on tourists. I finally used the possibility to play a local didge
in one of the many shops that are around here. Coooooool....., I'm absolutely enthusiastic about it,
even if I'm still waiting with the purchase, because of two reasons, I will go for it one day. First
I do not want to spend lots of money in one of these touri shops, when I can get better quality for
a better price somewhere else. And second a didge has a little weight and I think I have to carry enough
at the moment. However I realized how good I am in contrast to other tourists who just grunted into it.
After that we had a look at the big beach construction site, really crass, and probably the reason why
there is not much around here at the moment.
