rodeo
The Ford-F-Series in bullriding takes place only once a year in Innisfail and because thereīs not
much to do here you donīt want to miss out on such an event. So after a relaxing day in the hostel we
went to Callendar Park to watch this spectacle. "Gates open 4:30, Event starts 7:00" - so you
think that it will be really crowded and you have to be there early to get a good seat.
But when we arrived shortly before 7 it wasnīt that crowded. After some technical
problems the bull riding started. It is really amazing what the guys have to sustain. They have
to try to keep on the bull at least for 8 seconds, just holding a rope, which is bound on
the bull, and without a saddle. The rider gets points depending on time and bull. Every rider
has two trials on different bulls.
You feel sorry for the animals when you see how they being treated. They use an electroshock to
control the bulls and each one gets an electroshock before going out into the arena. There was
a bull that tried to jump out of its box. It was a bit frightening for the people who stand near this
box. Particularly as this bull tried more than once. All in all it was a nice evening even if some people
said that it wasnīt worth 15 buggs.
