movie marathon in cairns

Spontanously we decided to go to Cairns and watch some movies this weekend. Although there are only 100,000 people living in Cairns there are 3 huge multiplex cinemas. Austin powers Goldmember started at 3 pm and we had some time left, so I went and finally bought myself a pair of sandales. Unfortunately the film had already started, when I came back and therefore we missed the beginning:
Austin Powers: Gold Member - "Yeah baby!" The international man of Mystery returns. Dr Evil and his new Partner Goldmember ("I have a dutch accent, isn't that weird?") have kidnapped Austins father (dutch accent: fascher). Austin must travel back to 1975 in order to rescue him and stop the evil due from taking over the world. - Again a fantastic combination of some funny little gags with typical action plot. Afterwards we walked through Cairns and met some other people from the Lodge. At 6.40 pm we went to the next film:
The Bourne Identity - A man with amnesia is rescued from the Mediterranean Sea by a fishing boat. As he tries to find out who he is he must also find out why assassins trying to kill him. A really good spy film in which the tension at some points canīt be beaten. I didn't knew that Franka Potente is playing one of the main characters next to Matt Damon. It is a really fun when both meet in Zurich and speak German and this is translated with subtitles. Finally we watched Insomnia. A thriller set in Alaska. A top LA cop (Al Pacino) togehter with his partner is sent to Alaska to help investigate a murder. The location of the action is the interesting thing about the film. As it is mentioned in the title: insomnia - in Alaska it doesnīt get dark for half a year. While hunting the murderer Pacino accidently kills his partner and wants to pin it on the murderer, but he saw the murder and lets this Pacino know...
Because of the sleepless nights it becomes very dramatic.
After the cinema, at about 11.30 pm, we went back to Innisfail. After 20 km we had to stop - we ran out of petrol. Chris forgot to refill. It happens so quickly. Fortunately there was a house nearby and we asked for the next petrol station. The man said there is a 24/7 station a kilometre back. So Chris went. The girls and I stayed in the car. After 1 1/2 hours Chris came back - it was 4.5 km. It is a very funny story to wait at the highway at night. Many cars passed by and one car stopped (just before Chris returned) and the man offered help.
