Now it finally was "goodbye Innisfail". Shortly after half eight the five of us left for Cairns -
Amy, Andre and me and two more people from Codge Lodge who had to go to the airport this Sunday morning.
As there is no bus to Cairns in the morning they were glad about the lift. Finally they caught their plane
and I was delighted at the good performance of Dino (five persons with luggage and camping gear is quite a lot).
Then we wanted to find a dentist for Amy. This should not be a problem in a big city like Cairns. Even on
Sundays there should be emergency aid in the hospital - but not in Australia. Here the friendly staff at the
hospital did not even wanted to call dentists who probably are on duty. So we drove around Cairns for the whole
day to find a dentist - unfortunately unsuccessful. We decided to stay one night and try again tomorrow.
To win at least something from this day Andre decided to buy a didgeridoo. In the evening, as it is normal in
Cairns, we went to the WholShed to use our free meal voucher. After dinner we went to Johno's Blues
Bar to check out the famous gong show. There later a few people from Inner City Backpackers were supposed to play.
(BTW a really nice and reasonable place right in the city centre, dorms just 12bucks/night incl. a/c).
First Johno himself played on the stage. Later - the gong show - there was kind of an open stage. Customers
played either with or without support from the band. This was judged by a jury - just customers as well.
It is amazing how the different players of the band just start to play with the amateur artists - respect!
Especially as quite a few things were really unknown.
Tomorrow we hopefully get on our way to Cape Tribulation.
