Down in Down Under - Diary - 07/12/02

learning to diveOriginally we wanted to relax a little bit today and check out the free scuba dive experience this afternoon and start the diving course tomorrow. But then we realised that the course we were aiming at (4 days - 2 dives at the reef) is just beginning on two days every week and one of them is saturday. So we started today. After a few videos, lots of theoretic knowledge and two hours medical tests (worse than the tests for recruitment in the army) we finally went into the pool for the first basic skills. Really great! I expected all this to be much more difficult. In the evening you of course are quite knackered.Additionaly I met Katie today. She originally is from Saskatchewan/Canada (apparently all Canadians are from there - Dallas and Donovan are from there too;-) and is living in Montreal now. The funny thing is, that she is listening to Stereo Total (small french-german band from Berlin - where I am from!). She originally went to Oz for uni and is travelling through the country for her last weeks now. All together I was impressed from the very first moment on. |
