certified padi open water diver

After two more dives at Alma Bay and a really demanding test we were supposed to become certified padi open water divers today. As the first thing in the morning Brendan, our dive instructor, let us do a little swimming test. Swim 200m (in a little pool) and then, when you are whacked (we did not know what else will happen afterwards), stay on the surface for 10 minutes. We were supposed to spend the last two minutes with both hands and if possible arms as well above the water (this was more a joke - it is not easy). Afterwards we went into the sea again for two more dives. Training the last skills (controlled swimming accent, weightbelt & bcd removal, navigation) and then each time a little pleasure dive. Unfortunately we did not see anything interesting today.
In the afternoon all three of us passed the tests with 50/50 points (without cheating) and are certified divers now.
This evening we finally wanted to do our bbq. After a little bit of shopping the five of us (Amy, André, Mike, Katie and locu) went to Horseshoe Bay and used one of these nice free-help-yourself-bbqs, which are available on every beach here. Afterwards Katie and me went to Radical Bay. We probably would not have gone, if we had known before in which condition the road is. It is sealed nearly all the way, but more holes then road and of course up and down, just an adventure track - another demanding task for Dino. Additionally there were a lots of little rock wallabies on this track - I never saw so many in one place. Just amazing how the wild life is activated here at night.
