quick drive to airlie beach

Today it was farewell to Magnetic Island for us after nearly one week as well. After getting back to the mainland in the morning amongst other things we wanted to book a package for the Whitsunday Islands and Fraser Island in Townsville. Armed with several ads we started to check out the offers by phone to figure out the best one for us. After gathering all the necessary information we met to decide. When we finally decided and tried to book all available places on this ship were just fully booked. This happened several times. Finally we made a super bargain: 3 days / 3 nights Whitsundays including 10 dives and Fraser Island for just 480 bucks (usually 520 or more). Later we figured out that just the diving in the Whitsunday Islands would have been already 480 bucks. Now we had to hurry up a little bit, as the vessel was supposed to leave tonight. Originally we expected to get on the water again tomorrow, but not it should happen already tonight.
Arriving in Airlie we just quickly checked in at the diving shop to choose our equipment (we were supposed to go on a proper diving trip, not just Whisundaysailing with a few dives). Afterwards we did a little bit shopping and just had enough time left to park the van at the resort before boarding the ship. On board there first was a warm welcome with all the other crazy divers. I realised pretty quickly that I even can do my advanced diver on board for a little extra charge. As my ears are still a little bit funny (equalisation problems during the last dive), I did not really knew if I can dive at all and postponed this decision. All the crew members however gave me the advise to try it. At some time we even set the sails to get to the outer reef over night - which is just 80 K's out into the sea.
