Down in Down Under - Diary - 17/01/03

back to Sydney CBD
As in the "good old days" I walked into the city from Glebe today, checked a few things at Council and realised
that I really have to find a job here in Sydney. Later I went to the office of Malaysian Airlines and changed
my flight back without any problems so that I really can stay for one year. It is quite possible that I even
can arrange a little stop-over in Kuala Lumpur on the way back, but that is still quite a while to go.
Later in the afternoon I called the warehouse and got the expected answer. There is no work at the moment, but
they will call me again next week - right, that is exactly what I need. As it seems that there is not much
happening here in Sydney either at the moment, I am thinking about moving on to Canberra or Melbourne.
Apparently it is really easy to get a job down there. For this I even already contacted the first people to
give them a lift. In the evening I decided to go for a hostel in Newtown which is offering secured parking.
Arriving there, the car park was filled up of course and I had to search for half an hour but finally found
something. After checking in I found a nice job on the noticeboard. The offer was from today but I expected
that it will already be to late. I phoned the guy and was invited for an interview for tomorrow.
