hiking in the blue mountains

So it was time again for me to do a little bit of hiking again - of course in the rainforest. Even if it looks completely different down here then further up north it is still something like rainforest. First we went to the Three Sisters. There of course you had to be careful not to get Japanese tourists on you pictures. From there we even could see the "blue" the first time. After we got some information about the possible treks in the information centre we went on our way into the valley down the giant stairs. Down there we went to the train past Katoomba Falls. The area between railway and cable railway is far more easy to access for the proper tourist and therefore the track in between them is a boardwalk as well. There are signs and cuts into the rocks where coal mining, which once was carried out here, is explained. Then as the hiking track seperates from the boardwalk again you can even see a sign in Japanese or Korean (I do not know the letters of these languages) which is set up to keep these people on the rigth track. Apparently some of them got lost already.
From then the way changed into a proper hiking trek again and soon we even had to climb a little bit as the way led through an area where a landslide must have happened recently. After we had crossed this area we went on through terrific nature again. At some time we arrived at Ruined Castle, a few huge rocks sticking out on some peak from where you have a fantastic look-out. As it was already kind of late, we just had a quick snack and started for the way back. Then the never predictable climate in the mountains took its possibilities and a storm evolved. However, there was thunder and lightning for quite a long time before it started raining cats and dogs. For a long time we believed getting home dry as well, but we did not suceed. So eventually we were really drenched - somehow pretty fast, because if it rains here, it really rains. Back at the stairs we decided for the quick and comfy way and took the train up. This is the steepest train in the world (more than 50° uphill) and gets you on top of the mountains in shortest time.
