Down in Down Under - Diary - 06/04/03

eyre peninsula
After getting up, having breakfast and first boomerang lessons thanks to David, we had our first little stop
in Kimba - cleaning the dishes, filling up water and petrol, which was supposed to get our standard program
in road houses from now on. Then we went into the direction of Streaky Bay, a little village on the west coast of the
Eyre Peninsula. As there is no beach right there, we went up the coast a little further to Perlubie Beach.
After a short refreshing stop in surprisingly warm water - we were freezing when going along Great Ocean Road -
we went on to Ceduna, the last proper town in Southern Australia on the way over to the west. A little bit later
in Penong we went off the highway onto one of these nice gravel roads. Approximately 12 kilometers later we arrived at
Cactus Beach, our destination for tonight. Well, there are no cactus around here and apart from huge dunes and
unfriendly local people there is nothing memorable.
