dolphins and chocolatecheesebeertasting
After the bad weather kind of calmed down a little bit, we first of all enjoyed the beach, even if it
still is to cold to have a swim at the moment, it still was worth a view.
Afterwards we went to Bunbury, where we wanted to check out the Dolphin Discovery Centre. Probably similar
to Monkey Mia, just a lot more cheaper, you can experience dolphins really close there, if you are lucky.
We were not or did not have the patience to wait, but still this whole thing is not to bad. In the
exhibition you can learn a lot about dolphins and after all admission is just two bucks.
Then we went to Dunsborough to have a look at Cape Naturaliste. With all these things the weather of
course is thwarting us, as it is still not very inviting. On the way back we made a little detour to
visit Sugar Loaf Rock. There you are supposed to see the rare red-tailed tropic bird. We were not lucky
again, but it was a nice view anyway.
Subsequently we went to Margaret River. Apart from annual surf championships, which are interrupted at the
moment due to the storm, there are quite a few little factories around, who produce little yummy things.
So we decided to satisfy our gourmet-interests. First of all we went to a chocolate factory. Our demands
of course were pretty high due to Haighs Chocolate and a little factory somewhere in the South West cannot
meet them. So we went on to a cheese factory. As a Frenchman Nicolas naturally already had a few disappointments
with Australian Brie and Camembert and was quite critical this time as well. However after testing he was
quite enthusiastic and said, that this is the first time in Australia that cheese deserves the names Brie and
Camembert. Then we decided to skip the wineries and went to the brewery instead - there I wanted to have a
nice proper beer - Australian beer namely is no proper beer. Though in this little brewery they really
suceed in brewing a proper pilsner, which of course bears away all prizes in Australia - who wonders?
We set up our "house" for the night a little bit later near Rusdens Picnic Area. After having a nice
tomatoe soup we enjoyed the cheese. Later I taught Nicolas and David Skat (a German card-game) and we had a
nice evening with the pricy beer.
