torquoise bay
After I spent two and a half hours with updating my homepage today - an expensive but still very slow
connection - we went to Cape Range Nationalpark. There we wanted to do some snorkeling in Torquoise Bay.
Quite a few people had told me that this is the place to explore the Ningaloo. If you walk down
the beach for a few metres to the South, you just have to jump in and the current carries you
automatically over the coral and the beatiful aquatic life. This is really amazing. Even if I missed
out on tortoises and sharks, as usual. Outstanding for me again were the rays: blue-spoted coral and
stingrays in astounding magnitudes. Finally we decided to stay here for the night.
After a nice sunset - the one at the Pinnacles still is unexcelled - we had dinner and originally wanted
to sleep at the beach later. After we settled there, we were welcome by some prawns a few minutes later.
First we thought, they would leave us alone. When we switched of the lights later, we woke up due to a
loud rustling. One of the prawns really wanted to try our crackers. Doing this it was stopped by the
plastic bag around them. When we observed the beach aroundn us a little bit more closely, it turned out that
there were hundreds, if not even thousands of them on the whole beach. Naturally we
decided pretty quickly not to sleep on the beach - the picnic area offers a nice place to stay as well.
